Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe

In the gothic horror genre, Anne Rice reigns as queen. The best-selling author’s supernatural universe spans books, TV, film, comics, and more.

Rice, who died in 2021, kicked off her world of bloodsuckers, spellcasters, and restless spirits with her 1976 novel Interview With the Vampire, presenting the love story of reluctant vampire Louis and his dazzling maker Lestat. Director Neil Jordan brought their blood-soaked tale to life in the 1994 film starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. Rice produced the novel’s TV adaptation for AMC in 2022’s critically acclaimed series that stars Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid. Its third season, which sees the series renamed to The Vampire Lestat, is expected in 2026.

Rice’s Lives of the Mayfair Witches book trilogy, which chronicles the lives of generations of the magical Mayfair family, was also adapted into a TV series — Mayfair Witches — starring Alexandra Daddario. The series finished off its second season in March and has been renewed for a third, moving the action from New Orleans to Salem, Mass.

Meanwhile, Anne Rice’s Talamasca: The Secret Order — which debuted on AMC and AMC+ on Oct. 26 — takes fans back to the Immortal Universe, following a society of investigators that tracks witches, vampires, and other supernatural creatures worldwide. New episodes premiere weekly on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC and AMC+.
