Adele is planning to take a step back from music following the conclusion of her “Weekends With Adele” residency in Las Vegas later this fall.
The singer broke the news in a recent interview with German broadcaster ZDF, where the artist reiterated she won’t be releasing a new album anytime soon. She also shared she hopes to take a “big break” to explore other creative outlets.
“I don’t have any plans for new music, at all,” Adele said. “I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.”
This isn’t the first time Adele has pushed back on the pressures of releasing new music. In January, Adele told an audience during one of her residency shows that she doesn’t anticipate she’ll be writing an album “for quite some time.”
Adele has been performing in Las Vegas since November 2022 and plans to put a cap on the run with a final scheduled performance on Nov. 23. Before then, she will perform a special series of shows in Munich starting Aug. 2, with an end date of Aug. 31.
She’s said to be appearing in “an open-air environment that has been exclusively created for these special shows,” according to a press release. “The bespoke arena will feature a combination of seated grandstands and standing areas with capacity for 80,000 people per night.” This marks the first time Adele has played mainland Europe since 2016.
In a post on her Instagram, Adele said she agreed to do the shows in Munich after feeling too “curious to not follow up and indulge in this idea — a one off, bespoke pop-up stadium designed around whatever show I want to put on? Ohh!? Pretty much slap bang in the middle of Europe? In Munich? That’s a bit random, but still fabulous!”
