1 Mayo Belwa Local Government Council in Adamawa has donated communication gadgets to security agencies to enhance security in the area.
2 The Chairman of the Council, Muhammadu Buji made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Mayo Belwa on Thursday.
3 He listed the donated items to include 10 walkie-talkie phones, 15 cellular phones, pieces of torchlight, rain boats and coats as well as other items.
4 The council, he said, engaged 30 additional vigilantes and placed them on N10,000 monthly stipend, to compliment the efforts of security agencies.
5 “We have reduced rampant instances of kidnapping and abductions in the area.
6 ” I commend the effort of the military; Police, Department of State Security Service (DSS), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for their effort to secure our communities, protect lives and property, ” he said.
7 Buji said the council had organised stakeholders’ sensitisation to create awareness on dispute resolution to avert harder and farmer clashes.
8 He further said the council had demarcated cattle routes, and directed the five district heads to step up vigillance to guard against encroachment of the routes.
