Tom van Overbeek, I read your candidate statement in the E-R last week and I liked what I read. You had my vote.
Then I started receiving hit pieces against your rival put out by a group calling themselves “Citizens for Safe Chico.” What a bunch of clowns! The last mailing I received yesterday sealed the deal; I won’t vote for you.
Here’s the headline from the last mailer: “Warning: Chico drinking water is at risk.” The mailer then goes on to claim that by not clearing the homeless from our local waterways, it threatens our drinking water. And, of course, you will clean it up but your rival won’t.
Really? We get our drinking water from the creek? I agree there’s a problem with the homeless despoiling our creeks. But you insult my intelligence by equating that with my drinking water.
Convince me to vote for you based on your merits. I can’t support a candidate or his minions who resort to dirty politics.
