The USC Aiken COVID Test Site is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday at the USCA Convocation Center, 2049 Champion Way, Graniteville. This is a drive-thru testing site. TourHealth will analyze the tests and provide results within 48 to 72 hours. 

SUNDAY

The Aiken County Historical Society will hold its winter general meeting at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Aiken County Historical Museum, 433 Newberry St. N.W. Steve Silver, a member of the Adath Yeshurun Synagogue, will be the guest speaker. His topic will be Aiken’s Jewish Merchants. A reception will be held on the museum’s patio following the meeting. The event is free an open to the public.

Quakers (Religious Society of Friends) will hold virtual services Sunday. Services are open to all and visitors are warmly welcomed. Aiken Women in Black and Moms Demand Action will hold a Vigil for Peace and Nonviolence from 4-5:30 p.m. Monday at the entrance to Aiken Estates, across from the Fresh Market along Whiskey Road. Participants are invited to stay for the whole time or as long as they can. With Russia’s war with Ukraine, witness for peace is essential. If you can’t stand, chairs are welcome. The vigils in witness against war and all forms of violence meet the first and third Monday of the month and are held rain or shine and on holidays. All, including children and men, are welcome. VITA is open to those in need of help with tax preparation and e-filing of federal and state returns. Those wishing to use the VITA service must pick up an info packet, complete the forms in the packet and call to make an appointment once all forms are completed. Forms will be available at the Weeks Center Monday, Jan. 24, through April 8. Appointments are available between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Walk-ins will not be accepted. Taxpayers must have a cellphone, and will be called by someone to work on their return.

Author Anthony Varallo will speak at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at the USCA Etherredge Center, 471 University Parkway. The talk is part of the Oswald Distinguished Writer’s Series.
