WANDERERS winger Dennis Politic says his debut goal for Port Vale was one of the best moments of his career.
The on-loan winger found the top corner with a composed finish as the League Two side scored twice in injury time to complete a memorable comeback against Leyton Orient.
Politic had to wait for an opportunity in the first team as he continues his recovery after missing last season with a serious knee injury.
“It is unbelievable,” he told the Stoke Sentinel. “I have said it to a few of the lads, it is definitely one of the best moments of my career, if not the best because of the way we won it as well.
“It’s not just my goal, it’s (Jamie Proctor’s) goal to end up winning it, and the celebration with the fans was unreal.
“I came on with a positive attitude, I came on with the belief that we could win it. Why not? A chance is all you need and you equalise and go from there. Anything is possible.”
Port Vale are now up to third in the league table, having taken 18 points from their opening 10 matches.
“When you go on the pitch you just try to focus and do your best to help the team,” added Politic. “You don’t think of anything else that can distract you, you just think of trying to produce your best on the pitch.
“I just saw Dave Amoo having the ball and I thought he’s either going to cross it or pull it back. We work on these things in training anyway.
“So I just got myself to the edge of the box and I was praying it would come to me, and thankfully it did.
“Then it (the winner) was unbelievable. Great work from David Worrall and a great finish from Proc.”
Politic could be in action when the Valiants host Rochdale in the Papa John’s Trophy this evening (KO 7pm).
