Though many viewers say they’re sick of Big Ed, he and his fiancé Liz Woods were nonetheless cast on Happily Ever After? season 7. The couple are struggling with their engagement because most of their friends and family are against them getting married. Ed and Liz took a trip to Bentonville, Arkansas to meet Ed’s sister Christine, in an effort to gain more support for their impending nuptials.
The 90 Day Fiancé couple showed up at Christine’s house for dinner, but many viewers were distracted by Ed’s choice of outfit. He donned a vibrant denim vest emblazoned with patches and buttons, along with a pair of bright pink Crocs. In a Reddit thread started by user Khador12, fans were eager to roast Ed’s fashion decision. “He looks like a collection of puffy stickers the girls would have in elementary (early 1980’s),” one fan commented, and others cracked jokes of their own. “How do you do, fellow kids?,” a commenter said, referencing the 30 Rock-based Steve Buscemi meme, and another made an Office Space reference, saying, “He’s trying to hit the required number of pieces of flair.”

Though there are many things about Ed that fans enjoy joking about, there is a dark side to his behavior, and his fashion choices are comparably benign. Was his bedazzled denim vest and pink Crocs an odd choice for a dinner with family? Yes, definitely. But fans are right that there is a lot more to criticize about Ed than his outfit. Many viewers are quick to call out Ed’s appearance, which is an example of fans punching down and going for the lowest common denominator. Big Ed can’t do much about the way he looks, but what he can change are his abusive tendencies. If he wants to be called out less by 90 Day Fiancé fans, Big Ed may want to change his personality and go for more low-key outfits.
