50% of Chamarajanagar students don’t have gadgets for online class: DPI survey | Mysuru News

MYSURU: More than 50% of school students in Chamarajanagar do not have smartphones or tablets to attend online classes or to watch educational videos sent by teachers, a survey by the department of public instruction (DPI) revealed.
According to the survey, while 57,990 students have either smartphones or tablets in Chamarajanagar district, 61,360 don’t. As many as 71,608 students said they don’t have access to the internet and 9,330 don’t have TV or radio sets at their homes.
In Mysuru district, of 2,90,738 students surveyed, 98,936 (about 33%) don’t have smartphones or tablets to attend online classes; 1,18,041 don’t have internet access and 15,248 don’t have TV or radio sets.
In Shivamogga district, 79,788 students don’t have gadgets, Chikkamagalur (50,485), Hassan (76,404), Kodagu (25,440), and Mandya (76,685), the survey found.
