Like most, I do the bulk of my shopping for a new season at the beginning of it. So with the official start of spring on the very near horizon, that means I’m shopping for it as we speak. Once the first warm and sunny day arrives, I will be prepared. The problem is that my closet is full. I don’t even have a hanger to add something new in unless I take something out. So, the need for a clean-out of it is somewhat urgent.
I thought long and hard about what to weed out of my closet to free up some room, and landed on five specific items. They’re all either things I either own too much of, trends that don’t feel particularly fresh anymore, or pieces I simply don’t love enough to wear all that often. The reason I’m sharing my closet clean-out list is that it’s a daunting task (trust me—I routinely put it off for as long as possible), and inspiration and motivation can be very useful in these situations. So without any more procrastination from me, keep scrolling to find out what I’m weeding out of my wardrobe and why, and shop the spring items I plan on adding in.
Weeding Out: Bubble Skirts / Adding: Knee-Length Skirts
While I dabbled in the bubble skirt trend over the past couple of years, I ultimately didn’t find them to mesh with my somewhat classic aesthetic, so out they go (for now, at least). Instead, I’ll be shopping for sleek, ’90s-coded knee-length skirts.
