Four suspects with hammers took an unspecified amount of jewelry from JB Diamonds & Fine Jewelry in Newport Beach in a smash-and-grab style robbery Monday afternoon, Jan. 24, police said.
The robbery happened at about 3 p.m. at 369 San Miguel Drive, near the city’s popular Fashion Island shopping mall.
Heather Rangel, a spokeswoman for the Newport Beach Police Department, said the suspects were wearing hoodies, masks and gloves when they broke cases using hammers, Rangel said. No other weapons were involved in the robbery, she said.
They fled the location with multiple jewelry cases, Rangel said.
