An extensive police search was underway Friday evening following a shooting that injured two people at the Fashion Outlets of Chicago, according to authorities.
Photos from the scene showed several emergency vehicles outside the mall at approximately 8 p.m. In a tweet, the Rosemont Department of Public Safety said an isolated shooting took place inside the mall, and there was no active shooter.
Two gunshot victims were transported to area hospitals in unknown condition. Rosemont police said a search was underway at the mall following the shooting, but the offender was not on scene.
One witness told NBC 5 they were on the phone when four to five shots suddenly erupted, people began running and sirens went off.
A reunification site was set up at the Murray Bros. Caddyshack Restaurant, 9546 Balmoral Ave. Anyone looking to reunite with loved ones should head there, police said.
