EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Downtown Evansville will have a number of roving Bob Ross look-alikes this weekend, and there are a couple of outdoor movie options and more on tap. Check out some of the fun things to do around the Tri-State.
Thursday
Park-n-Rec
1-3 p.m. Aken Park.
The City of Evansville’s Park-n-Rec summer program is back and is 1-3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer as well as noon to 2 p.m. some Fridays. Activities will include yard games, dancing, arts and crafts, sports games and more at different parks throughout the city.
The schedule is:
1-3 p.m. July 20 Wesselman Park, July 22 Tepe Park, July 27 Howell Park, July 29, Fulton Park, Aug. 3 Lorraine Park, Aug. 5 Garvin Park; noon to 2 p.m. July 23 North Main Street, July 30 Bellemeade Park, Aug. 6 North Main Street; and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 7 at CK Newsome Center.

St. Wendel Bierstube
Thursday through Saturday, St. Wendel.
St. Wendel Knights of St. John #282 is hosting a bierstube Thursday through Saturday. They are having a drive-thru chicken/sausage dinner on Friday and a Drive-thru/dine-in dinner on Saturday. There is live music each night. Epic plays 8 p.m. to midnight Thursday, The Disappointments 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and The Flying Buffaloes 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday. There is a $5 cover.
Music in the Park
6-8 p.m., Lorraine Park.
The summer concert series continues with Just Us 4 at Lorraine Park. This free concert is open to everyone. There will be food and drink vendors on site and attendees can bring a blanket, chairs, picnic and drinks as well, but no glass bottles. This is a family-friendly event.
Warrick County Summer Musical ‘Footloose’
7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday, Castle High School. $15 for adults, $14 for seniors and $10 for students at tickets.warrickmusical.org or at the door.
Warrick County Summer Musical “Footloose” will feature more than 50 local student performers and a live orchestra. Presented by the Warrick County School Corporation and Warrick Public Education Foundation, this musical is based on the 1984 hit movie with Oscar and Tony-nominated music including “Holding Out for a Hero,” “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” and title track “Footloose.”

Friday
Movies in the Park
7 p.m., Friedman Park. Free, donations appreciated.
The Warrick Parks Foundation is hosting a Movies in the Park in Friedman Park featuring “Field of Dreams.” The film will be shown under the stars on a 30-foot screen on the amphitheater stage. Bring your lawn chairs and blanket. There will be food trucks there.
Movie night
Dusk, Mt. Pleasant Church parking lot, 8900 Baumgart Road.
Mt. Pleasant Church’s movie night will feature “Trolls World Tour.” Attendees should bring a lawn chair. There will be free hotdogs and drinks.
Evansville Civic Theatre presents ‘Barbecue’
7 p.m. Friday through Sunday, Mesker Mall Shelter House, across the street from the old Mesker Amphitheatre and Mesker Park Zoo. Tickets are $16.50 per person, $15 + $1.50 ticketing processing fee, evvcivic.ludus.com or call 812-425-2800.
Barbecue centers around the O’Mallerys, a dysfunctional group of siblings who come together for a park barbeque in order to stage an emergency intervention for their sister Barbara, whose drug habit has gotten out of hand. However, there are in fact two O’Mallery families, one white and one black. Each appear in different, yet similar, scenes that juxtapose to create a dialogue about racial and family politics. The show was written by Robert O’Hara.

The show contains explicit language and deals with adult themes.
The house will open 30 minutes prior to the performance, with no exceptions.
The audience will be in the same covered shelter house as the cast, but patrons should still plan to bring their own lawn chairs.
Civic Theatre is partnering with SW Southwestern Behavioral healthcare to help provide resources and awareness for addiction recovery in the area. They will be collecting donations at each show and will have information available.
Saturday
WNIN’s Ross Fest
2-9 p.m., Main Street between Riverside and Second Street. Tickets for this event, along with the VIP reception at the Southwestern Indiana Arts Council, are on sale at www.wnin.org.
This festival will celebrate all things Bob Ross. The event will feature different paint sessions including two family-friend sessions for those 12 and up. After 5 p.m. there will be bar service and food trucks, including Mo’s Traveling Medicine Show, Pizza Revolution and Rock A Burger. VIP tickets include a first look at two original Bob Ross paintings at the Southwestern Indiana Arts Council. The exhibition, including Ross’ paintings and portraits of by local artists, is open from July 20-29.
Bowl for Kids’ Sake

Bowl for Kids’ Sake 2021 is the Big Brothers Big Sisters program’s largest fundraiser, and this year there are three ways to play: Bowl In-Person, “Bowl Out” (at your convenience) and Virtual + Donate. Participants register online or via the paper registration form and create teams of six. Teams can get their friends, co-workers, and family to play along by registering at bowlevansville.org. The goal is to raise $55,000 for local programs. The program currently serves children in Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, Spencer and Gibson Counties in Southwest Indiana, and Henderson County in Kentucky.

These rock’n’roll hall of famers are coming to the Ford Center. The group, formed in 1969, is known for classics such as “Sleeping Bag,” “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Legs.”
