If there’s a word that best describes the beauty looks celebs paraded in last week, it’s the GenZ slang, “Lit“. Cool, intense, and unbelievably exciting, Black girls set on a mission to stay memorable, and they succeeded. Whether it was Beyoncé in full cowgirl drip at the Gold Party or Cardi B doubling down on the ’90s skinny brows, the looks popped, hit different, and delivered what they sought to give.

Makeup
Justine Skye is always a great inspiration for cool makeup looks. What makes her offerings stand out is that they never try to be noticed. (Oh, the irony). Last week, she continued with understated glam in an uber-soft look that consisted of lightly-filled brows and glossy lips. Easy and beautiful, just the way Ms. Justine does it!
Elsewhere, Fantasia Taylor opted for a subtle face beat, but with a bit more pump than Justine’s. For the 2024 UNCF Mayor’s Masked Ball – Charlotte, where she was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, the actress was a vision in a brown number with ruched details and a beguiling flare. To seal the deal, she recruited a doll-up that featured smokey eyes with a hint of gold and matte, neutral lips. Clearly, a little effort can be what you need to produce a dang cool makeup look.
Hair
Just as we predicted, volumes are still speaking loudly in the hair conversation. Last week, Garcelle took a go at the trend with a full, wavy mane that stood out in burgundy. From the color to the length and volume, everything was absolutely right.
