‘Hocus Pocus’ star Stephanie Faracy recreates Madonna Halloween costume in ‘Nobody Wants This’

  • Hocus Pocus actress Stephanie Faracy returned in Nobody Wants This season 2.
  • The star recreated her iconic Madonna cone bra Halloween costume from the 1993 Disney classic.
  • Faracy has a recurring role on the Kristen Bell-Adam Brody Netflix series.

Hocus Pocus actress Stephanie Faracy‘s iconic Madonna Halloween costume from the 1993 Disney classic has cast a spell on her latest acting gig 32 years later.

The star conjures nostalgic magic in the sixth episode of the second season of Netflix‘s popular rom-com series Nobody Wants This, on which she recurs as Lynn, the mother of Kristen Bell’s central character, Joanne.

During a scene in the middle of the episode, Lynn attends a Purim celebration wearing a cone bra, high ponytail, and headset — all reminiscent of Madonna’s legendary Blond Ambition tour look Faracy sported in Hocus Pocus‘ iconic “I Put a Spell On You” musical sequence.

“Mom, you look insane,” Joanne tells Lynn in the scene, while the latter sports a gold-accented cone bra modeled after Madonna’s Jean Paul Gaultier creation that first appeared on stage in 1990.

“Thank you, sweetie,” Lynn responds. “Jewish Halloween is so fun!”

Faracy starred in Hocus Pocus as mom to Max (Omri Katz) and Dani (Thora Birch), two of the three Salem, Mass., youths (the other being Vinessa Shaw’s Allison) who, on Halloween night, light a magic candle that resurrects a trio of vengeful witches (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy) hellbent on stealing the souls of children.

After evading the witches throughout the first half of the film, the kids seek help from their parents at a Halloween dance party, where they find that their father has transformed into the vampiric “Dad-cula,” while their mother vogues in the crowd.

Faracy’s reference on Nobody Wants This comes during peak spooky season, when Hocus Pocus fandom is often at its strongest — including for fellow star Tobias Jelinek, who recently reflected on making the movie in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Jelinek, who portrayed a local bully named Jay, revealed that Katz once got him high before a rehearsal with Birch and director Kenny Ortega — years after Katz told EW in 2022 that he was high for many of his scenes on the film.

Jelinek, who wasn’t asked to reprise his role in 2022’s Hocus Pocus 2, added what it would take for him and Larry Bagby (who played fellow bully Ice) to come back for Hocus Pocus 3, which is currently in development at Disney.

“If it was done right, I know for a fact Larry would make sure we both did it,” Jelinek said. “I would want something with Omri and Vinessa [Shaw], and we also have to get Jason Marsden in there to be the voice of [the black cat] Binx. I’d flip over that opportunity, because we’ve all become really close friends.”

In 2023, writer Jen D’Angelo told EW she was in the early phases of mapping out a story for the film.

“We’re still working on it. We’ve been working on some ideas, and it’s been fun to dive back into that world and we have so many directions in which to go and so many new characters to explore,” D’Angelo said at the time, teasing that a supporting character in the sequel might return for more in the third film: “We’ve only scratched the surface of Hannah Waddingham‘s mother witch.”

Hocus Pocus is now streaming on Disney+. Nobody Wants This season 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
