Are you ready to ‘Socibowl’? New Muskegon entertainment hotspot opens its doors

MUSKEGON, MI – The owners of Pigeon Hill Brewing Company recently announced the opening of Socibowl, a new restaurant and entertainment space infused with social activities in downtown Muskegon.

“This is a big kids’ wonderland,” according to the Socibowl website. “We’ve set out to create the perfect space for a night out with friends, or a night where you meet your new best friends. At Socibowl, it’s all about living life, together.”

The opening day for the new social hotspot, 411 W. Western Ave., was slated to kick off at 3 p.m, Dec. 14., until closing at 10 p.m.

Owners said they hope Socibowl will provide a “perfect counterpoint” to The Brewer’s Lounge inside Pigeon Hill’s 4th Street production facility.

“We may do a grand opening down the road with a bit more hurrah,” said Michael Brower, co-founder of Pigeon Hill and chief brand officer at Socibowl. “But today, it’s more just about throwing open the doors and saying thanks to everybody who supported us along the way.”

Socibowl offers a variety of entertainment and dining under the same roof, from the restaurant and beer garden to duckpin bowling, arcade games and oversized yard games.

Jenga, Yahtzee and Connect Four are just some of the oversized yard games offered at Socibowl, along with arcade games like Jurassic Park-themed pinball and duckpin bowling.

Duckpin bowling is a variation of the traditional sport, typically played on a regular-sized bowling lane but with smaller pins and bowling balls. Bowlers can rent a lane for $30 per hour.

With the addition of a full kitchen, Pigeon Hill’s specialty cocktails, wine and craft beer, guests will have the opportunity to grab a bite to eat or drink while enjoying the various games.

“Sociobowl has been in the works since before Covid-19,” said Brower. “And obviously, the world went on a bit of a hiatus. So, we’re excited to finally see this project come to fruition.”

To level up the experience, guests can also participate in the Socibowl Loyalty Program to get exclusive coupons, discounts, news and updates.

Additionally, the OpenLane app is available for iOS and Android to track scores, set up games and more.

Brower touts the new space as the “Muskegon version of cool things” the brewing company found in other places.

“It’s really exciting to be part of Muskegon forming its own identity and building up these cool new places,” he said. “All of the Pigeon Hill owners live downtown. It’s exciting for us to not just create a place to go downtown but to create something that feels like things we’ve encountered in a big city but was adapted for us here.”

Hours for Socibowl are Wednesday through Sunday, from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. Guests can make reservations online for dates on or after December 24.
