A political forum series co-sponsored by two local organizations seeks to illuminate the community on candidates running in the upcoming general election.
This series is co-sponsored by the Greater Hardin County Women’s Network and Hardin County Branch of the NAACP.
Lacy Rice, one of the leaders of the network, said the organization has hosted these forums in the past. The last series they had was in 2020.
Now, the forums are back in partnership with the local NAACP chapter to talk to those who are running for various local and state political offices.
“We want the voters to be aware of the issues so that they can vote more intelligently,” she said.
Rice said these forums happen over Google Meets, and the groups are hoping to have one each Monday, Friday and Saturday, up until Oct. 31. They are not open to the public, but are recorded and uploaded to YouTube a few days after.
Rice said during the forums, they ask the candidates questions on issues that are important to the two organizations.
Two forums, one with the Vine Grove City Council candidates and the other with the District 2 magistrate candidates, have been recorded so far.
Rice said that GHCWN is mostly aligned with the Democratic party, however, she said the goal of the forums is to reach out across the aisle and hear from all kinds of candidates no matter their political persuasion.
