Dress up in summer gingham styles with this classic fashion ensemble

With its classic appeal, there’s no surprise that gingham is the print of the season.

Technically, the term “gingham” refers to a light to medium weight fabric, rather than the pattern with which it has become synonymous with today.

The fabric, with its air of nostalgia and domesticity, gained popularity in 1939 with Dorothy’s Gale’s iconic blue gingham dress worn in the Wizard of Oz. Later, in 1959, Brigitte Bardot created quite a stir when she wore a pink-check, gingham dress for her wedding to Jaques Charrier, thus thrusting the humble print into the fashion spotlight.
