Earlier in the day governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has asked the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government to take a floor test on Thursday, although the Sena approached the Supreme Court challenging the direction. The letter was issued by Koshyari to Maharashtra Legislature’s Principal Secretary Rajendra Bhagwat on Tuesday night, after a group of BJP leaders, including former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, met him at the Raj Bhavan and urged him to direct the government to prove its majority in the wake of the Sena MLAs’ rebellion. According to the reports, rebel Shiv Sena MLAs led by Eknath Shinde have also left the Guwahati hotel to Goa.

Shiv Sena is preparing to move the Supreme Court if governor BS Koshiyari asks CM Uddhav Thackeray to take a floor test. Sena leaders said the SC had earlier declined to pass orders on a not holding a floor test till July 12 – the date given for rebels to explain why they shouldn’t be disqualified – but had allowed the Sena to approach if it is ordered.
