A fan-based Elden Ring fashion show has been in the works for almost a month, giving players a chance to display their best costumes and loadouts.
There is already a lot to do in Elden Ring, and now a new fan-hosted fashion show is letting players show off their best and most stylish equipment loadouts. One of the most popular components of this year’s blockbuster RPG hit is Elden Ring’s surprisingly in-depth character customization suite, which allows players to build their own custom Tarnished to take on an epic quest to gather the lost fragments of the titular Elden Ring or simply explore the game’s vast open-world in pursuit of powerful enemies to challenge in battle.
While most Elden Ring players simply use these customization tools to craft their own original Tarnished from one of the game’s ten available character classes, others have based their creations on iconic figures from existing games, TV shows, films, and more. These have ranged from expected choices like Ciri from The Witcher 3 and Ganondorf from The Legend Of Zelda to more outside-the-box crossovers like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and even Sonic The Hedgehog, complete with Sonic’s spin dash. There really is no limit to the many costumes, loadouts, and characters wandering the open world of the Lands Between, and now Elden Ring players are getting a chance to show off some of their most notable creations online.
According to PCGamesN, a Reddit moderator by the handle of Vi_for_Vindictive helped set up an Elden Ring fashion show last month, asking users on r/Eldenring which class of characters should serve as the focus of the first round of events. The armored Knight class ended up in first place, followed by a Cosplay division featuring the best recreations of existing characters like Harry Potter’s Lord Voldemort or The Lord Of The Rings’ Gandalf. Many players submitted their best Knight builds in a subsequent thread from Vi_for_Vindictive, but they would later announce that there had been “some complications with the process” due to how some entries consisted of a single screenshot while others posted entire albums’ worth of images. As a result of this and difficulties in contacting the various entrants, the planned Elden Ring fashion show has been delayed temporarily, with Vi_for_Vindictive promising that “if we do this again the submission guidelines will be adjusted so that we can go straight into voting.” Meanwhile, the submission threads will stay up until at least this upcoming Wednesday for Knights and Cosplayers.
Outside of wild custom characters and impressive load-outs, Elden Ring has been host to all manner of interesting in-game events thanks to the many mods and gameplay videos making their way online since the game launched earlier this year. This includes Elden Ring players like Let Me Solo Her achieving legendary status by taking on difficult bosses without any armor equipped, eagle-eyed fans scanning the Lands Between for Easter Eggs and hidden secrets, and even celebrities like WWE Superstar Randy Orton sharing their own Elden Ring character builds and experience levels.
Elden Ring has become one of the biggest games of 2022 is far, and the vast amount of creativity it grants players in its level design and character customization suite is a major part of its success. While the upcoming Elden Ring fashion show has hit a speedbump in gathering entries for its inaugural events, it could serve as yet another outlet for Elden Ring‘s substantial player base to show off their greatest creations – and could even become a regular showcase if the first two contests prove successful enough.
