Maharashtra political crisis LIVE: Senior leaders of Congress and NCP met Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday, hours after the Supreme Court kept in abeyance the disqualification proceedings before the Assembly Deputy Speaker till July 11 and sought responses to pleas by rebel MLAs questioning the legality of notices seeking their disqualification.
“We are alliance partners. We will sit together and discuss things,” state Congress chief Nana Patole told reporters outside Matoshri bungalow, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s residence in suburban Bandra, after meeting him late evening.
Congress minister and former CM Ashok Chavan also met Thackeray.
The ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance of Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress in Maharashtra is battling a political crisis that unfolded last week after Sena minister Eknath Shinde went to Surat in Gujarat and from there to Guwahati in Assam with several Sena MLAs. Both states are BJP-ruled.
NCP leaders Dilip Walse Patil and Jayant Patil also met Thackeray on Monday.

Guwahati hotel where rebel Sena MLAs are staying extends closure of bookings
The luxury hotel in Guwahati, where dissident Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde is camping with other MLAs from Maharashtra, on Monday extended the closure of all bookings for the public till July 5. Till Monday afternoon, the Radisson Blu hotel was not taking any bookings till June 30, as per its website. Later in the evening, if a booking was attempted on any day till July 5, the website prompted, “There is no availability for the dates and rate type you selected. We recommend changing dates or selecting a different rate type when available.” Reservations can be made from July 6 onwards, it showed.

Group breaks door of Independent MLA’s office in Gondia
The public relations office of Independent MLA Vinod Agrawal in Maharashtra’s Gondia city was attacked on Monday by a group of six to seven persons wielding sticks, a police official said. In the incident that took place at 1:30pm, the group broke a glass door and also engaged in a verbal duel with the guards posted at the entrance, he said.

Sanjay Raut should use words carefully, says Eknath Shinde’s son Shrikant
Kalyan MP Shrikant Shinde, son of Shiv Sena rebel Eknath Shinde, on Monday asked party leader Sanjay Raut to watch his mouth, a day after the latter’s “bodies without souls” remarks against the dissident MLAs camping in Guwahati caused a flutter.
Talking to reporters at the ‘Shakti Sthal’ memorial of the late Shiv Sena leader Anand Dighe here, Shrikant said Raut should be careful about the choice of words as he is also the father of someone and his family is watching his remarks.
“This is not the culture of Maharashtra. The state is watching the manner in which he is passing comments. This happens when one realises that power is slipping out of hand,” the MP said.

However, police intervened and tried to keep the two groups away from each other to avoid a clash, a senior police official said. The supporters of Yadravkar, an independent MLA from Shirol in Kolhapur, came out to back him in Jaysingpur town, one of the supporters said. A group of Shiv Sena workers also tried to stage a protest near the spot.

The ED is probing a money laundering case against jailed HDIL promoters, Rakesh and Sarang Wadhawan has traced certain transactions linked to Raut’s wife, Varsha. According to the agency, investigation conducted so far revealed that around Rs 100 Crore were transferred from HDIL to the account of the arrested accused, Pravin Raut. The probe has revealed that during 2010 part of the alleged proceeds of crime amounting to Rs 83 lakhs was received by Varsha Raut, wife of Sanjay Raut directly/ indirectly from Madhuri, wife of Pravin Raut. This amount was allegedly utlised by Raut for purchase of a flat in Dadar. It is also revealed that after initiation of ED investigation the amount of Rs 55 Lakhs was transferred by Raut to Madhuri Raut. The ED has attached the flat and 8 land parcels in Alibaug, a getaway on the outskirts of Mumbai.
